A class action settlement has been reached against Shimano over allegations that certain road bike cranksets were defective. If you purchased, received, or owned a Shimano Hollowtech II Ultegra FC-6800, FC-R8000, Dura-Ace FC-9000, FC-R9100, or FC-R9100-P crankset manufactured before July 2019 with specific production codes KF through RF — or a bicycle equipped with one — in the United States, you may be eligible for an extended warranty, free enhanced inspections, and reimbursement of qualifying out-of-pocket expenses. The official claim deadline is August 4, 2026.

Shimano Defective Crankset Settlement

If you own or owned a specific Shimano Hollowtech II crankset (Ultegra FC-6800, FC-R8000, Dura-Ace FC-9000, FC-R9100, or FC-R9100-P made before July 2019), a class-action settlement gets you a free extended warranty and inspections.
