Who may qualify

You self-certify the basics when you file — the settlement administrator makes the final eligibility decision.

You may qualify if you're a U.S. resident who currently owns or is the primary user of a Generac PWRcell solar system purchased anywhere in the U.S. before January 9, 2026. 'Primary user' means you live at the property where the system is installed and you're responsible for the electric bill — you don't have to be the legal owner. People whose systems were provided through U.S. Department of Energy grants are excluded.

What was wrong with the Generac PWRcell systems?

The lawsuit claims that components called SnapRS devices in the PWRcell system can overheat, melt, or fail — causing the whole system to shut down or perform poorly. Generac denies the allegations, but agreed to settle to avoid the cost and risk of continued litigation.

Do I have to do anything if I just want to stay in the settlement but not file for money?

No action is required to remain in the settlement class, but if you don't file, you won't receive any cash. To get paid, you must file a claim by August 24, 2026.
