Vivint Smart Home Settlement
The FTC found that Vivint Smart Home sales staff stole consumers' personal information to fraudulently apply for and approve financing for home security products, misusing their credit reports in the process. Vivint agreed to pay $20 million to settle the FTC's charges, and the agency sent 470 refund checks totaling nearly $500,000, averaging about $1,056 each. The claims process closed October 9, 2023.

$8.14M Cincinnati Political Protest Class Action Settlement
The City of Cincinnati and Hamilton County agreed to pay $8,143,000 to settle claims that police wrongfully arrested and detained protesters during 2020 demonstrations, then dismissed the resulting misdemeanor charges. Eligible class members split a $5,029,500 base fund, with some also qualifying for extra payments for long detentions or injuries. The claim-filing window closed June 5, 2026.
