Watch out for
- The court still has to approve the settlement — the Final Approval Hearing is July 28, 2026. Benefits can't be paid until the court signs off, but you should still file your claim before the August 27, 2026 deadline regardless.
- The $2,000 cap applies only to independent shop repairs. BMW Center repairs are reimbursed at 100% with no cap — so if the amount you paid exceeds $2,000 and the work was done at an independent shop, you'll only recover up to $2,000.
- Your vehicle must have been under 10 years old and under 120,000 miles at the time the repair was performed — not today's mileage.
- The opt-out and objection deadline is June 30, 2026. If you want to opt out to preserve a separate lawsuit, you must act before that date, not before the claims deadline.
- Only file at sharkfinsettlement.com or the official Kroll form link. Scam claim sites often mimic class action settlements.
- If you haven't had the repair yet, BMW Centers are required to provide no-cost sealing-defect repairs starting 60 days after the Final Approval Order — so you may not need to pay anything out of pocket going forward.
